![]() ![]() Don collected arrow heads, loved cross word puzzles, wrote poetry, and was an avid Cubs fan. He was a 58 year member of the Wheatland Salem Church. He worked in the Wheatland Assessor's office for 8 years and was on the Wheatland School board for many years. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and leader of the Wheatland Prize Showman 4-H club. ![]() ![]() Don and Carley had farmed for nearly 30 years in the Wheatland Township area. Preceded in death by his parents: Lisle and Jeannette Smith, brothers: Russell, Mervyn (Margaret), Kenneth (Irene), and Stanley (Ada), sister: Lola May (Robert) Johnson. Dearest grandpa of 9 and great-grandpa of 11. Loving father of Candy (Wayne) Walz of Manhattan, IL, Cody (Jean) Smith of Naperville, IL, Janine Briggs of Plainfield, IL, and Susan (Alan) Walz of Oswego, IL. Beloved husband of Carley Smith, married for 67 years.
